About The North Face Brand Colors

The North Face began in San Francisco in 1966 and built an identity around exploration rather than a literal north-facing storefront. Its quarter-circle symbol refers to Yosemite's Half Dome, turning a specific mountain profile into a compact mark that can move between expedition equipment, clothing, stores, and urban settings. The company's own history describes the Half Dome logo as a reminder of places already reached and paths still ahead.

Red, black, and white deliver strong recognition at small sizes, but the mark's geometry, clear space, and approved lockup matter as much as hue. Product colors, technical labels, reflective details, and safety information are separate systems. On maps or outdoor interfaces, red should not be the only signal for hazards, closures, difficulty, or emergency actions.
