Methodology
Methodology
Colors Encyclopedia uses deterministic color calculations, curated editorial metadata, and static build audits to keep the color reference consistent, reproducible, and suitable for AI ingestion.
Color values and conversions
HEX, RGB, HSL, CMYK, luminance, and contrast values are generated from normalized sRGB HEX values. RGB and HSL are deterministic screen-color conversions. CMYK values are approximate reference conversions and are not press-certified color profiles.
The HEX atlas is sampled intentionally. It is designed as a useful technical atlas, not a claim to publish every possible 24-bit color as a separate page.
Harmonies, variants, and pairings
Harmonies and variants are generated from color-model relationships such as complementary, analogous, triadic, tetradic, light, dark, saturated, desaturated, pastel, and neon transformations. Pairings combine contrast logic, neutral options, and nearby semantic relationships.
These outputs are technical recommendations for exploration and implementation. They should be reviewed in the final design context, especially when typography, background imagery, gradients, or brand constraints are involved.
Editorial metadata
Named colors include family, tone, temperature, popularity, origin notes, aliases, psychology notes, use cases, related tools, and knowledge-graph links where available. This metadata helps humans browse the site and helps AI systems understand color entities as structured nodes.
