About NYU Brand Colors

NYU Violet #57068C is the university’s primary identifying color and appears consistently across school-level guidance. NYU units pair it with black and white, while brighter and lighter violets extend the system for emphasis. The continuity allows individual schools to communicate in their own voice without losing the shared university anchor.

Official guidance asks communicators to use NYU Violet in every design and reserve the brighter Ultra Violet for limited impact. The logo itself is not a flexible color component: school guides prohibit redrawing, rearranging, recoloring, or adding effects. For independent design work, the palette demonstrates how one distinctive purple can lead a broader tonal family while neutrals carry most readable content.
