About Wimbledon Brand Colors

Wimbledon's dark green and purple were introduced in 1909 after the All England Club discovered that its earlier blue, yellow, red, and green colors closely resembled those of the Royal Marines. The Club says its records do not establish why the replacement pair was chosen, despite a romantic later association with William Blake's phrase about Wimbledon's 'green and impurpled hills.'

Green, purple, and white connect the identity to grass courts, planting, wayfinding, dress traditions, and broadcast presentation, but they are not interchangeable decorative swatches. Wimbledon has publicly cited PMS 349 and PMS 268 for the Club colors; the HEX values here remain screen approximations, not print matches. Event marks, trophies, ticketing, and partner applications require current authorization.

This independent reference does not reproduce Wimbledon marks, represent the AELTC or a partner, certify Pantone or print matching, sell tickets, or grant trademark permission.
