About Tyrian Purple Color

Tyrian Purple was historically produced from secretions of marine mollusks. The labor and material required made the dye exceptionally expensive, helping establish its long association with elite and imperial dress. Trade carried the colorant and its prestige around the Mediterranean in antiquity.

Unlike a bright modern violet, Tyrian Purple is often understood as a deep red-purple family whose appearance depended on dyeing and textile conditions. It can add historical gravity to editorial and cultural palettes, but its famous status should not be flattened into the claim that every surviving textile or digital sample shares one exact hue.

The HEX value is a modern reference inspired by the historic dye family, not a reconstruction recipe or measured sample.
